These are the most common questions we hear about glow balls or light up golf balls for night time or twilight play.

  • Are there different kinds?
    Yes there are 4 main different kinds of glowing or light up night time golf balls, made by 2 different companies.
    Glow Flyer Night Golf BallNight Flyer Light Up Night Golf BallTwilight Tracer Blinking LED Golf BallTwilight Supernova Glowing Golf Ball

    • Chemical Light makes the:
      • Glow Flyer – Golf ball with single use glow stick.
      • Night Flyer – Golf ball with LED light inside.
    • Sun Products USA makes the:
      • Twilight Tracer Balls – Golf ball with red blinking LED lights inside.
      • Twilight Supernova Balls – Golf ball with non-blinking blue LED lights inside.

  • Are there different colors?
    • Twilight Tracer balls come in Red in the blinking model.
    • Twilight Supernova comes in Blue, Green and White in the non-blinking model.
    • Glow Flyers come in Blue, Green, Orange, Pink and Red
    • Night Flyers come in White, Yellow, Blue, Green, Pink and Red

  • How bright are they?
    Some are brighter than others and we found the blinking Tracer balls to be quite annoying. We found the balls with glow sticks to be the least bright of all of them. The Night Flyer for the most part was the brightest, but certain colors like Green, Blue, White and Red seem to be much brighter than the other colors.

  • How well do they play?
    The Glow Flyers (the ones with the glow sticks) play the shortest out of all of them at lease 2 or more clubs shorter then a regular golf ball. The Tracer balls and the Night Flyers play about the same and they are at least 1 to 1.5 clubs shorter than a regular golf ball.

  • How long do they last?
    The Glow Flyers can last a long time, but the glows sticks that go inside them only last one night around 5 to 8 hours. Multiple uses require you to buy multiple glow sticks and that can get costly. Both the Night Flyers and the Tracer balls say they have a 40 hour battery but the Tracer Balls don’t seem to last as long. We have had Night Flyers last for years. But if you shank one off a cliff or in the water the balls wont last long. Which leads us to our next question…

  • Do they float or sink in water?
    • Tracer balls – No, they sink.
    • Night Flyer balls – No, they also sink.
    • Glow Flyer balls – Yes, since they have the glow stick with a small pocket of air they will normally float.

      • Since all these balls glow in the dark, you can see them and with a long ball grabber you can get them back.

  • How much are they?
    Well these night time golf balls are quite pricey, ranging from $4.00 to $10.00 each ball.
